Patrick Sheard founded Night Mail Productions as a means to promote his independently produced experimental films. The dynamic of the company shifted dramatically when he crossed paths with Michael James at university. Their collaboration began with The Unchanging Sea, Streetlands, and Roundabout. These films, which have graced numerous international film festival screens, reflect a synergy between Patrick’s vision and Michael’s expertise in marketing and casting.This partnership has formed the backbone of Night Mail - a testament to their shared commitment to stories from the North.

Michael James
Creative Producer & Casting Director
Michael James, originally from Northern Ireland, serves as the Creative Producer and Casting Director at Night Mail Productions. With a keen eye for talent and a strategic approach to marketing, Michael plays a crucial role in bringing the company’s projects to life. He collaborates closely with the Founder and Creative Director on funding applications and supports each project’s development. Michael’s dedication and versatility make him an integral part of the Night Mail Productions team.
